Update on Life!!!

Hey Gang,

Long time no talk and there is so much to update you on. As many of you know Courtney and I have been praying about the future and what we are going to do in two months when we are free from Wyoming. We were not sure what to do because we were not sure what I was going to be doing as far as a job. I applied for two RD positions just to keep my options open and we figured that if doing the RD thing was what God wanted then He would make it happen.

I applied to Pepperdine University and did a phone interview but was not asked to come for an on campus interview. I also applied to Fresno Pacific University and flew out for an on campus interview but they offered the position to someone else. So it was very clear that God was closing those doors and He will open new ones. So that ends my career as a Resident Director as this is the first and last RD job that I will experience in my life. As of June 14th or sooner I will be moving on to a different career. As far as what that is going to be is yet to be determined but I have my eye set on a county job in Tulare that would take way too much time to describe so if you really want to know then call me. So now is the struggle to stay in the game here at NWC and not emotionally detach myself before I should. I need to finish the race and that remains my challenge.

Now as far as Courtney goes... she has two interviews in California next week on Friday and so is going to be flying out and staying until Sunday. The positions are at Tulare District Hospital and Kaweah Delta Hospital and they are looking VERY promising. So that should solve the problem of getting Courtney a job. Plus, Courtney and Maddie are going to be flying away for good on May 13th so look for them to be in Tulare at that point.

That being said, we are also in the market for a house. We are planning to buy our first home as soon as possible and so we would appreciate prayer as far as that goes because it is already pretty stressful. So that is the big deal in our lives.

As far as Maddie goes... I'll let the pictures and the videos do most of the talking. Needless to say she is crawling pretty well and has no problem sitting up on her own and then going from sitting to the crawling position. She loves hanging out on the bed and getting into as much trouble as humanly possible. She still loves people and smiles and laughs all the time. She is eating a ton of solid food and supplementing that with nursing. Her poop is very solid at this point and very stinky and she grunts when she poops which makes mom and dad laugh. She also talks to us in her own way with small shrieks and by blowing raspberries. She is amazing... now here ya go!

Vote in Poll!

Hey All,

Check out the new blog below and don't forget to vote in our poll!

Long awaited update

Hey Gang,

I have found that it is becoming more and more difficult to update this blog on a regular basis. We are getting into a somewhat crazy part of the year as Courtney is wrapping up school and I am going to start the slow close down of the hall. Plus I am doing interviews for new positions, I went to Fresno Pacific this last week and had a really good time out there and have also done a phone interview with Pepperdine. So, things are really starting to pick up (less than two months before Court and Maddie fly back to CA for good!).

As far as the little stinker goes, she is slowly learning how to do things on her own. She is crawling of sorts now, though it is more of an army crawl. She can sit up by herself with no problem, though she still can't go from laying down to sitting by herself. She still has no teeth though is slobbering and chewing on everything she can get.

The big change has been in the state of her diapers... she has started having what Courtney and I call "real people poop"... meaning that it is solid and stinks like you wouldn't believe! She is also starting to grow a little bit more hair but still nothing too much to speak of.

Also, Nana Carter came out during spring break and got to hang out with Ms. Maddie. Below are some of the fun pics from the trip!

Happy Easter

Hey Gang,

Well it has been a long time... a long, long time! Let me catch you up on what has been going on in the Carter household since my last update.

First of all I we have made it over the hump in regards to work and school. I have gone through the hiring process for the RAs for next year (Saturday assessment day, 53 interviews, and "draft day"). Courtney has one last 12 hour clinical before she moves on to shorter ones and a few up in Billings. She has a month left of school and less than three months before she hops on a plane back to CA.

On the job front there are three things going on. First, I have applied to two RD jobs: Fresno Pacific and Pepperdine. I have a phone interview with Fresno Pacific this coming Thursday. Second, I have been in touch with people in Tulare about a county job there that looks like it might hold some promise. Third, Courtney has applied to an OB Nursing position in Tulare. So that is what is going on with that.

On a personal note, Courtney got her hair done for her birthday and it looks magnificent!

Also, I have been relegated to the role of "gimp" as I have seriously injured my foot. I was playing a game at the Boys and Girls Club here in Powell and push off really hard on my right foot and heard a pop and felt some pretty serious pain. I thought someone had kicked me in the bottom of my foot but it wasn't that at all. I got to spend 5 hours in the emergency room and got X-rays taken (there was some fear that either I had broken a bone or torn a muscle off a bone) but the final prognosis is: a partially torn plantar fascia. The plantar fascia is a ligament that connects the heal to the toes and basically forms the arch of your foot. That pop I felt was it tearing near the heel of my foot and so now I get to wear this huge "Darth Vader" boot that allows me to walk without feeling a ton of pain. I have to go see an orthopedic surgeon and the doctor at the ER said it could take as long as 6 weeks before the pain goes away... so yay for me...
Anyway, on to the stuff you really want to see:

Fun Photos

Hey gang,

Maddie turned 6 months old a couple of days ago... how time flies! Currently she is scooting around pretty well and can turn from back to front and front to back. She can pull herself up to a sitting position if given a little help and can stand if she has ahold of one of your hands.

Anyway, nothing much else to report. Below are some cool pics. The first couple are some professional "6 month" photos that we had taken and below that are some really cute photos from around the house!

Enjoy!
