Kicking

Hey Peeps,

Here is a little mid-week post. Just wanted to let you know that Courtney has started to feel the kicking of our up and coming soccer player. That kid can kick (or so I've heard). Courtney says that when she sits in certain positions it is as if the baby doesn't like those positions and gives her a swift kick to let her know.

Also, Courtney has gotten exponentially big over the past couple of weeks. She is huge!! A couple of our friends came over tonight and looked at her and were shocked at her size for only 4 months. So we might have a very large baby... we'll see.

On a side note... Wyoming weather is stinking weird. Yesterday it was like 75 degrees and today it was a blizzard... we got almost 3 feet of snow. How does that happen??

Anyway, I'll try to post again soon!

Comparison

Just in case you wanted to see how far we've come... check out these pics. The first is from when we first found out... the second is from 15 weeks!

Healthy and Happy

Hey All!

Sorry for being a slacker and not updating the page in so long! We try to report when there is something new going on. Abbie, my trusty colleague, however has reminded me that I am slacking on my duties.

So here is the update...

We are well into the second semester now (just passed 4 months) and Courtney's nausea has gone away only to be replaced with really bad headaches and back issues. We talked to the doctor about this and he said that the reason for that is because the hormones that your body produces causes the large muscles in your back to relax. You might think this is a good thing but actually it is those muscles that make sure your spinal collumn stays put and so when those muscles relax, other muscles have to tense to make sure the spinal cord is supported. Sooo, when those muscles tense that causes head and back pain. I hope that makes sense!

We got to hear the heartbeat again, this time for longer. I got a video of it so if you want to watch that just go to: www.myspace.com/ashcarter. It is pretty cool to hear! We also got blood work done to test for down syndrome and spina bifida... but came back normal so we should be having a healthy, happy, and normal baby (Courtney agrees about the first two but says that the "normal" is up for debate seeing as it is my child).

Another cool inverstment that we made is what is called a "Bella Band". This is a piece of very stretchy elastic that you wear over the very top of your pants and allows you to wear your pants unbuttoned and unzipped. It has been a life saver for us because we have been able to save on maternity clothes because Courtney can wear her old jeans that fit everywhere but the waist. So she has enjoyed being able to wear "clothes that fit" again (the maternity clothes don't fit her butt... it is too small!!!).

Now lets catch you up on the pics... we ended at 12 weeks, now we are in the 16th. The pics I have only go to the 15th week (we are behind and need to take this week's pics still). So pic one will be 13 weeks, 2 is 14 weeks, 3 is 15 weeks.

Enjoy!!

I promise I'll try to update it more frequently from now on!!
