An Apple a Day...

Hey Gang,

So yesterday was another doctor's appointment with the same result... everything is great so far. The baby is still measuring big but that is not a bad thing. In the very beginning it was kind of tough to find the baby's heartbeat when he had his heartbeat machine exploring Court's tummy. Not so much anymore. This time he simply put it on her stomach and it was VERY easy to hear the heartbeat. 130 bpm... which made him scratch his head. He asked what odds he gave that it was a girl and we said 90%. He said that if he hadn't done the sonogram he would have thought it was a boy by the heartrate. He said that we must just have a very chill and relaxed baby girl! Anyway, everything is good! Just thought I'd keep you updated!

Cheers,
Ash

Third Trimester!!!

Hey All!

Sorry I have been slacking lately. We had the end of the year craziness in the hall followed by a trip out to Chicago and Indiana for my best buddy's wedding and a visit with some of the family (e.g. Heath and Thais and Grandma Wright). It was good times but now we are back.

Last Saturday Courtney entered into the third trimester so time is pretty short now. We have passed the age of viability meaning that worst case senario and the baby came today there would still be a chance that she could live. Things have been going really smoothly since the first trimester... in fact the second didn't seem overly tough at all on Courtney. This third is already starting a little rough.

When Courtney was younger she broke her tailbone and now, as her pelvis is kind of rearranging it is causing some pretty bad pain in the tailbone region and lower back. She still has some sciatic nerve issues in her leg but the biggest pain is that tailbone.

Complicating these problems is the fact that we have no heat in the apartment right now. The hall is getting new boilers and so the installation process is happening right now (and will continue until June 7) and so we have no heat until it is done. Not a problem usually this time of year because generally we have the air and not the heat on. But we are going through somewhat of a "cold" spell meaning that it only about 50 degrees outside and only a tad better than that inside. So we have been walking around in sweats and coats because our apartment is FREEZING!!

Anyway, again I apologize for not updating but such is life. Here are some pics for you!

Drum roll please...

We are having... a BABY GIRL!!! (or at least the doctor gave us a 90% chance that she is a girl). She is in good health and is right at the right size. Dr. Ellis said that Courtney is measuring big because she has more amniotic fluid than normal but as of right now that is not a problem. So sometime around September 1st we will have a baby girl named Madeleine Aurora Carter. We are SUPER excited!! Courtney was jumping up and down (literally) with glee!!

Here are the ultrasound pics (if you click on them you can read the explanations):

3 more days!

Hey All!

No pictures today... though I do have a new one to put up (just don't have time right now)... but I just wanted to remind you all to check the blog on Friday because we have our ultrasound appointment at 11:20 GMT!!! Hopefully the baby will cooperate and show the goods... but, knowing that it is our baby, you know it is going to be stubborn. Keep your fingers crossed!

Cheers!
