Baby's First Halloween!!

Hey Gang,

Hope all is going well for you all, wherever you are! Well it was Ms. Maddie's first Halloween and what a day it was!

She spent most of the day with Daddy, wearing a black onesie that said "Daddy's Little Ghoul" with the picture of a ghost. She was a great baby today, sleeping some, and eating like a PIG. She went through three bottles while mom was at clinicals.

At 4pm we went to Dr. Chandler's for her two month checkup. We found out that she is 11lbs, 10oz (75 percentile), 23.5 inches (90 percentile), and has a head circumference of 15.5 inches (75 percentile). So in short... she is a BIG baby! He was surprised at how alert she was and was really surprised at the control that she has in her neck. He also noticed that she has an umbilical hernia which is normal and makes her belly button pouch out... this usually goes away with no problems.

Then it was on to the vaccines... yuck. Mom and Dad got flu shots and baby had five vaccines that she had to take, administered in three shots to the legs. OH MY GOSH... I have never heard such an upset scream. Courtney cried. But Maddie is very resilient and calmed within five minutes and was asleep in ten! She seems no worse for wear but that was a very traumatic experience.

We were going to take her to the Halloween dance on campus but poor thing is all tuckered out so off to bed. Here are some new pics!

What a night!

Hey Gang,

If you haven't been to the site for awhile check out the new pics below. I wanted to update you all about what happened last night.

Every night we go through the same ritual... we give the stinker a bath followed by a clean diaper and feeding. Lots of times she starts to look sleepy in the bath (oh, and if I haven't said it, she LOVES baths above all things), and most of the time she falls asleep breast feeding. At that point I pick her up and swaddle her... which usually wakes her up a little bit so that I have to put her back to sleep (which isn't hard at that point). All I do is walk into the bedroom and turn on some classical music and kind of sway with her in my arms and she is out. I lay her down in her bouncer which is sitting in the pack and play and she sleeps. All this takes place at around 10 at night and most nights she sleeps till 5 or so.

Last night we did the usually routine and put her to bed at around 10:30. We went to sleep after midnight sometime. She didn't make a peep until 6:30 and then all she wanted was milk. So mama fed her and laid her down on the pillow between us and she fell back asleep till about 10:30 when she needed a diaper change and we decided to get up! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? ALMOST 12 STRAIGHT HOURS OF SLEEP! Who says that you can't get a good night sleep with a baby?! Ha!

Through the Night!

Hey gang,

Sorry for not updating but with a new baby I barely have enough time to get my work done let alone fun stuff like updating this blog. I'll try to do my best!

Ms. Maddie has gotten to be quite a cute little girl. She smiles ALL THE TIME! She has been known to "chortle" and squawk when she gets super excited. When she hears my or Courtney's voice she grins and chuckles. We swaddle her every night and in the mornings when we un-swaddle her she STRETCHES like you wouldn't believe. She is so cute!

Plus, SHE IS SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT! She is seven weeks old and already sleeping through the night. We have her on a great schedule. She is up most of the day hanging out and playing in her swing and eating like you wouldn't believe. At about 9pm we give her a bath (mom and dad take turns taking a bath with her) and lotion her up and give her a mini-massage. We then put her in a fresh diaper (she goes through diapers like you wouldn't believe) and Courtney feeds her and she falls asleep. We put her in our bedroom in her bed and turn on classical music (she digs classical music and "celtic" music) and she sleeps until about 5:30 the next morning!

Here are the pics!
