God isn't in France this time of year...

Now, if you are wondering about the title of this blog let me shed some light for you. This quote is from the movie "The Count of Monte Cristo" and is quoted by the head of the prison where the hero of our story lives for so many years. Now, the reason that I used that quote is because of the line before it that goes something like this... "Oh God why me"...

Hahahaha! Basically this is my nerdy way of complaining about the fact that for the THIRD night in a row... I am up late with my lovely, beautiful, spoiled daughter. For the past three nights it has been that she hasn't wanted to go to bed until after 11pm. Well tonight she went to sleep only to wake up at about 12:30 and we are now working on 3:15+am. So yeah... mommy and daddy are tired.

Anyway words of advice from all you that have already gone through this thing called raising a kid?

101 Posts... and a new addition!

Ding Ding... round two! So we folded and added a new member to the family once again. We haven't wanted a dog, we haven't been looking for a dog... but a stinking dog found us. On Saturday we went to a kids street fair in Tulare and Animal Control had a set up there with adoptable animals. Well one of those dogs stole my wife's heart away.

Her name is Ruby. She had been there since May. She was a stray that was never claimed even though she was already spayed, house trained, and loveable. Why she was not adopted is beyond me. She is part terrier, part pit butt and very chubby!!! We have to take her in to make sure she doesn't have a thyroid issue (which may be affecting her weight) but she is the SWEETEST dog I have ever met... even though she is a big time beggar when there is food around!

Also... Ms. Maddie's birthday is this Saturday!!! One year old!!!

Now... on to the pictures!

Just to stir up dirt with my family...

I thought this was an interesting little speech by Ronald Reagan about universal healthcare (of course you have to remember the time period at which this was produced... think Cold War)... Enjoy!

PS. New entry below... don't forget to check it out!

The Long Awaited Update!

Alright... alright... I have heard enough!!! I KNOW that I haven't updated the blog in forever but I have good excuses (kinda). We have been super busy and so this is going to be the mother of updates with plenty of pictures and video.

So first... about three weeks ago we went down to Mission Viejo (possibly for the last time as my parents are moving to Boston anytime now) to hang out with my family and go to the Orange County fair! Maddie LOVED it! She got a caricature done and got to see tons of animals and people. She had a blast! She also got to go to the Santa Ana Zoo where she saw even MORE animals. Needless to say, she loves animals! She also had a blast with my family as she was spoiled rotten. Enjoy the pics and videos (oh and there are a couple of pics at the end from Mac's grad)

And round two... a week after we went down to MV, my parents came up to see us! Once again we had a blast going through storage boxes and having Maddie play with my baby stuff. We also went to feed the ducks at Mooney's Grove where we went on a boat around the pond. Maddie wasn't the biggest fan of this and got out and went down the slide with Aunt Mac and Nana. Overall, it was a great time!

And now... as far as an update about Courtney and I... right now I am in the interview process in order to get my Training officer job. If I get the job (which it is looking VERY good that I will) I hope to start sooner than later! Courtney took her board exams for nursing today and we are crossing our fingers that this came out well! Other than that... not much going on with the Carters. Maddie is SO close to walking and still only has two teeth but seems to be teething all the time. Other than that she is loving life, learning words, and trying to walk!
